The world of transport is changing fast, but some names still carry real weight, history and pride. The Leyland Society brings together people who appreciate not only the legendary Leyland vehicles themselves, but also the engineering, innovation and community spirit behind them.
For younger members, the Society offers far more than nostalgia. It is a chance to reconnect with an important part of British industrial heritage while meeting like-minded enthusiasts who share an interest in classic vehicles, restoration, photography, engineering and transport history. Many members remember Leyland buses and lorries from childhood, family businesses or early careers, and enjoy preserving those memories for future generations.
Membership gives access to newsletters, events, rallies and archives packed with fascinating stories, technical information and rare photographs. Whether you own a vehicle, are restoring one, or simply enjoy learning about Britain’s transport legacy, there is something for everyone. The Society also provides a welcoming social side, with opportunities to meet people from across the country who share practical skills, experiences and advice.

Membership Benefits
1. Leyland Torque
All members receive ‘Leyland Torque’ quarterly, which contains approximately 40 glossy A4 pages, ensuring a high quality of production. It is well illustrated with photos from the BCVM Archive and members own collections, and in terms of quality is amongst the best newsletters for any one-marque society. Regular Torque features include:
- Food for thought – a forum for people to raise and answer technical queries.
- Letters – items of interest from members and general public.
- Articles – members and others are free to submit any appropriate articles that may be of interest and educate the reader following research into any particular subject.
- Odd bodies – mysteries and responses on strangely bodied Leylands.

2. Workshop Manuals and Parts Lists
The Leyland Society has access to a range of Workshop Manuals in PDF format which are in the “Members Area” and other technical information which is available free to members.
If what you are looking for is not in the “Members Area” please “Contact Us” using the button above. Include your membership number and a description of the information you are looking for as we may be able to source it for you elsewhere. (If you don’t know your membership number please supply surname and postcode)
3. Society AGM
The Society’s AGM is open to all members and normally takes place on a Sunday in November. It is held over Zoom, making it accessible to members from all over the country, and as well as the Society business, a guest speaker is frequently invited or a Leyland related film is played. The speaker is often an ex-employee of the company, and recent talks have included the development of the ‘fixed head’ 500 series engine, the Leyland National Railbus and the Leyland Gas Turbine truck.
